Living15 is the EQUORA Institute programme that takes that question seriously: what would it actually take to build a local ecosystem capable of sustaining modern life, producing what it needs, and regenerating what it uses?

GoHalve is a non-profit initiative with a single, measurable goal: to halve humanity's ecological footprint within five years.
Not through guilt. Not through sacrifice. Through design — of cities, of production systems, of water cycles, of daily life. The hypothesis: if we build local environments correctly, the footprint reduction follows as a structural consequence, not a personal virtue.
Living15 is the most complete single tool available for achieving that goal. A local ecosystem that produces what it needs, circulates what it uses, and generates no net burden on the systems that sustain it.
GoHalve certifies products, processes, and communities that demonstrably achieve negative ecological footprints. The Equora Spaces NanoLab is the first candidate for GoHalve certification in Hungary.

At Living15, we study how the city fits together
Most 15-minute city implementations focus on access to services — cafés, schools, parks. They do not address whether anything is actually made locally. The result is a neighbourhood that consumes locally but produces nothing.

Why does the 15-minute city fail — and what would actually make it work?
Most 15-minute city implementations produce zoning maps. What they rarely produce is a functioning local production layer — the capacity to make, repair, and maintain the objects of daily life within the neighbourhood. Without that layer, the 15-minute city is a service-access concept, not a regenerative one. Living15 examines the structural, economic, regulatory, and cultural barriers that prevent local production from scaling — and what conditions allow it to work.
Why is custom and personalised manufacturing better than mass-produced goods?
The conventional objection to local manufacturing is economic: mass production is cheaper. This objection is correct within a narrow accounting frame. It becomes incorrect once the full cost is counted. Living15 builds the case across four domains: Sociologically — mass production severs the maker-user relationship, producing indifference to waste. Psychologically — custom objects generate greater attachment and longer use. Ecologically — on-demand local production eliminates overproduction and transport emissions. Economically — when true costs are included, local manufacturing becomes competitive at lower volumes than assumed.
The future of local water recycling and regeneration
Most cities operate on a linear water system: extract, use, treat, discharge. A genuine Living15 ecosystem requires a closed model — water circulated, cleaned, and returned within the local cell. This research examines technical, regulatory, and economic conditions for neighbourhood-scale water recycling. The GoHalve connection is simple: we track carbon footprints. We rarely track water footprints. A community that cannot account for its water consumption cannot close its resource loop.

Services without production

Linear water and waste
Urban resource systems are almost universally linear: materials come in, waste leaves. There is no internal loop. The city is a metabolic importer, not a regenerator.

Living15 designs for circular material and water flows at neighbourhood scale — treating local regeneration as an engineering specification, not an aspiration.

Local production is typically framed as a values choice — something worth paying more for. This makes it a luxury, accessible only to the environmentally motivated wealthy.
